A Fresh Start
Well, today was a big day.
After initially applying for my Spanish visa last October and then applying for my temporary residency in February, I finally have my Spanish residency card in my hands. I may have had to make two separate cross-country trips from Córdoba to Barcelona to get it, but it was worth it.
I feel as though I've been in limbo for the past couple of months, as I decided where to move (at least temporarily) and dealt with the bureaucratic headache of making sure I can legally stay in Spain. I'm still not through all the transitions, as I don't know if I'll stay more than a few months at this point - it will depend at least in part on how well I can support myself with freelance work. I'm currently doing a workaway-style exchange at my favorite hostel in Córdoba, where I work part-time in reception in exchange for "free" housing there. It's not technically free, since I'm working for it, but the arrangement saves me from having to pay rent and utilities, which is great.
Regardless of my continually changing life circumstances, finally getting my residency card does feel like a fresh start. I've been thinking quite a bit lately about how it felt like the first quarter of 2018 flew by, and April almost feels like a new year to me. I spent the last three months running around Europe on a solo trip, and it's only now that I'm starting to gain a sense of stability in my for-now home of Córdoba.
To that end, I'm revamping my content schedule so that I can better stick to a schedule and so that you all know when to expect new blogs (and YouTube videos!) from me. I was blogging daily and enjoyed the exercise, but found that with my work at the hostel and my freelance efforts, I just didn't have enough time to produce the level of quality I want to create in my writing on a daily basis. Not to mention the fact that in order for me to actually have something interesting to say to you all, I actually need to get away from my laptop and go live my life every once in a while.
So, without further ado, here is my updated content schedule!
- Monday: Newsletter (sign up here!)
- Tuesday: Blog
- Wednesday: YouTube vid/vlog
- Thursday: Blog
- Friday: Free
- Saturday: Free
- Sunday: Blog
Ideally, I'd like to upload two YouTube videos a week and add a second slot for video content on Saturdays, but realistically I need to focus more of my time and energy on finding freelance work at the moment and so I'm holding off on that plan for the time being. I hope you like the new schedule! My hope is that by sticking to a published content calendar, I'll be able to produce the best-possible writing for you all and do so consistently (erm, you may have noticed I've been writing less lately) even if not on a daily basis. As always, drop any questions, suggestions, or post requests you might have in the comments here or on my Instagram or Twitter accounts.
